The City of Imperial is accepting applications for the position of Law Enforcement Officer. The Imperial Police Department is seeking individuals who have been called to serve their community in the field of law enforcement. You must be at least 21 years of age, hold a valid driver’s license, a high school graduate or equivalent, have no felony or serious misdemeanor or traffic convictions, and must be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation. Certification is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person. If selected, an uncertified officer must qualify for and complete basic law enforcement certification at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center as required by state statute. The Imperial Police Department is looking for a candidate who is self-motivated, energetic, responsible, mature, and passionate about their community and who understands and practices servant leadership. We offer a progressive and positive work environment, with excellent equipment. We have a drug detection K-9 on staff with his own handler. We partner with area agencies to provide training, as well as sending our officers to off-site training, when feasible. We offer competitive wages. In addition, a sign on bonus of $10,000 is offered to certified officers and $5,000 for uncertified candidates. In both cases, one-half the total will be paid upon the first day of employment. For certified officers, the remaining one-half will be paid after twelve months of employment. For uncertified officers, the remaining one-half will be paid after twelve months of employment if certification has been obtained. Benefits include paid family health, vision and dental insurance, life insurance, an attractive retirement plan, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, uniforms and equipment.
