Job Overview
The City of Imperial, Nebraska, is seeking a responsible, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to serve as City Treasurer. This vital position is responsible for the management and oversight of all municipal funds.
Duties
- Serve as the custodian of all city funds;
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial, accounting, auditing, and related records, reports, and documents;
- Maintain and reconcile separate accounts for each fund or appropriation;
- Process and pay claims in a timely manner;
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to the City Council;
- Prepare and maintain the City’s annual budget;
- Maintain a comprehensive record of all outstanding city bonds; and
- Deposit and manage city funds in approved financial institutions, adhering to all applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications
- A strong understanding of financial management principles and practices;
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills;
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting;
- Strong customer service and public relations skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion; and
- Strong ethical standards; and the ability to multi-task in a busy office environment; and
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
