Job Overview
The City of Imperial, Nebraska, is seeking a responsible, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to serve as City Treasurer. This vital position is responsible for the management and oversight of all municipal funds.

Duties

  • Serve as the custodian of all city funds;
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial, accounting, auditing, and related records, reports, and documents;
  • Maintain and reconcile separate accounts for each fund or appropriation;
  • Process and pay claims in a timely manner;
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to the City Council;
  • Prepare and maintain the City’s annual budget;
  • Maintain a comprehensive record of all outstanding city bonds; and
  • Deposit and manage city funds in approved financial institutions, adhering to all applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of financial management principles and practices;
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills;
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting;
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion; and
  • Strong ethical standards; and the ability to multi-task in a busy office environment; and
  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
